WooHoo!  Free Money!

Okay, so technically there’s a little work involved.  But the kind of money we’re talking about here is definitely worth the effort.

The PTAs Take Your Family to School Week is sponsored by the AXA Foundation and includes 45 $1000 grants.  One of them could be yours if you take action before October 28, 2011 by completing the short application.

Of course, we’re going to want you to use that money to purchase our Nifty Numbers Family Math Night kit so that you can bring families and schools together academically through fun, hands-on math activities.  If you want to see what a family math night is all about, check this out.

What’s nice about a family math night event is that it connects families and schools together around the common goal of educating our children.   Parents feel engaged in their child’s academics and schools get to share what the Common Core State Mathematics Standards are like in action.  It’s a win/win.

But more importantly, kids love it!  And when kids are having fun, the learning happens naturally.

Research shows over and over and over that, no matter the demographics, when schools and families partner together, kids do better in school AND in life.  We want that for all of our kids.
