It stumps them.  And that&#8217;s part of the fun.  Because now I get to show them how to do it!<\/p>\n<p>This is a super easy lesson and great to keep in their desks to work on when they finish other work.  Mounted on black construction paper, these look awesome on a bulletin board.<\/p>\n<p>Students use a ruler and draw straight lines from one letter on the vertical axis to the same letter on the horizontal axis.  See the top picture.<\/p>\n<p>I cut out white 8&#8243; x 8&#8243; tagboard for them to draw on (construction paper works well, too).  Students can choose to make their lines using one color, or they can use multiple colors.  Sharp colored pencils work great.<\/p>\n<p>For my fifth and sixth graders, I have them use a protractor to draw three lines that make 120 degree angles.  Although it&#8217;s hard to see all three lines, the picture to the left is an example of this.
