Here’s another way to get your families to your Family Math Night event: Reminder Stickers!
I designed these for the primary grades but they can really be used for anyone. As the kiddos line up to go home, stick one of these on their shirt as they walk out the door. Or, have them put them on themselves – they love that!
But first, you’ll need to fill in your specific information such as the date, place and time. Clicking on the link below will take you to the pdf. From there, fill in the information on the first sticker then just copy paste into the other sections. The template works on Avery shipping labels 5163. Just make sure ‘Fit to Page’ is not checked in the print options.

As families signed in, kids wrote their name and class on a raffle ticket and put it in the jar (see photo below). Kids who wrote an answer for our What Do You Notice? poster got to put another ticket in the jar.
Several times throughout the evening names from the jar were called and kids got to come up and pick an item. Yes, they needed to be present in order to win.
As you plan your Family Math Night event, be sure you advertise that there will be raffle prizes as this helps to bring people in.
Building Strong Family-School Partnerships
Educating our children requires a team effort. Today’s schools actively engage parents as partners around student learning. Nifty Numbers and Math Medley Family Math Nights are perfect examples of this in action. These fun and academically engaging events help parents feel connected, not only to the school community, but to their child’s learning, as well. When families attend the event, teachers feel supported in helping students learn and kids see first-hand the value their parents place in their education. Collectively, these build a supportive learning environment for students, parents, and educators.
Involving Parents Meaningfully
All parents want their children to succeed in school. That’s why it’s important to involve parents in their child’s school experiences beyond bake sales and fall carnivals. Getting parents involved on an academic level underscores their role as active participants and valued partners in the education of their children. Nifty Numbers and Math Medley Family Math Nights are excellent opportunities for parents to work with their child on important math concepts that reinforce classroom learning. Parents walk away knowing they have made an important contribution to their child’s educational future.
Achieving High Standards
Research clearly indicates that parent involvement in their child’s education has a significant impact on academic success. Nifty Numbers and Math Medley Family Math Night events engage families in ways that are linked directly to classroom learning. Parents work one-on-one with their child exploring hands-on, standards-aligned activities that reinforce what goes on in the classroom. They gain skills and strategies that can be used to help their child with math at home. When parents take an active role both in and out of the classroom, learning increases and test scores rise.
